Student success at High Sheriff Young Engineer Awards

Posted on: 20/06/2025

We were delighted that our students were invited to attend The Oxfordshire High Sheriff Young Engineer Awards Evening on Monday 16 June. Sponsored by Lucy Group, The Engineering Trust and Abingdon & Witney College, it recognises students who demonstrate engineering potential. Samrah Shah in Year 11 impressed the judges with her a sensor-directed robot. Built with the aim of aiding people with physical disability, her creation won 3rd Place in the Year 10/11 category.

The pc28¿ª½±ÍøÕ¾ celebration did not stop there. Year 10s Katie Blowers, Mary Ngufor, Kamdi Ogbuabo, Henri Elderfield built a portable marble run in two Science Club sessions, using only a cardboard box and paper templates. The judges loved their out-of-the-box approach and selected them as winners in the Team category. The marble run will no doubt have pride of place in our Science department.

The girls were awarded prize money and took home a very elegant glass trophy each. It was a wonderful evening.
