Year 9 students complete assessed expedition for Duke of Edinburgh Award

Posted on: 16/06/2025

Congratulations to 121 of our Year 9 students who headed out last Thursday to complete their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Assessed Expedition. Day one started well with the groups in high spirits. A downpour after lunch dampened some spirits but the sun soon came back out and dried them off. As students arrived at the campsite, they had a quick rest before pitching their tents and making their evening meal. After a short night's sleep, day two arrived with more sun. It got very hot on Friday but they showed great resilience and powered through, carrying their 10kg packs in the heat all the way to the bitter end.

We are very proud of the girls working so well together and finishing their expedition in difficult conditions. I am pleased to say they all passed their expedition. Well done!

A big thank you to all the staff who gave up their time to help train the girls. A special mention to Miss Hunt would completed the whole expedition including camping to support one of the groups.
